
LA JOLLA, Calif. - Six UC San Diego men's volleyball players have been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Scholar-Athletes for the 2012 season. The announcement was made Wednesday by MPSF Executive Director Al Beaird.
The six Tritons honored for their work in the classroom are sophomore middle blocker Sebastian Brady, sophomore setter Mike Brunsting, junior outside hitter Carl Eberts, junior libero Chase Frishman, redshirt freshman outside hitter Cheyne Hayes and sophomore outside hitter Vaun Lennon.
UCSD, along with Stanford and Pacific, have the highest number of student-athletes on the MPSF All-Academic list.
The qualifications for a Scholar-Athlete include:
- Student-athlete must possess a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average.
- Student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically.
- Student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution.
- Student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition.
