IRVINE, Calif. - The UC San Diego fencing team continued its domination Saturday at UC Irvine by winning its ninth consecutive Intercollegiate Fencing Conference of Southern California (IFCSC) championships on both the men's and women's sides.

UCSD rolled to the titles by topping the field in every weapon discipline. At the 2012 championships, the Tritons won five of six weapons.

On the men's side, UCSD placed first with Arizona State in second, USC in third, UC Santa Barbara in fourth, Caltech in fifth, UC Irvine in sixth, UCLA in seventh and Claremont in eighth.

The winning squad in men's sabre consisted of Bryson Abilay, Drew Dickinson and Travis Tibbitts. Jeffrey Chan, Alex Lavin, Keric Moore and Joseph Schenkel competed in foil for the Tritons, while Adam Campbell-Kruger, Luc Ginestet, Alex Mann and Eduard Zilinskiy combined for the epee crown.

UCSD placed second in men's epee at last year's league championships.

For the women, the Tritons took first and were followed by Arizona State, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, Caltech, Claremont, USC and UC Irvine.

Dipti Kanthilal, Isabelle Pinard and Elizabeth Shimei made up UCSD's women's sabre team. Amrit Khalsa, Rosalyn Lim, Alina Marshall and Victoria Parra competed in foil. The epee squad included Natalie Chan, Andrea Gory, Laura Hawkins and Moriah Kreeger.

UCSD is off until Saturday, March 9, when it hosts the NCAA West Regional. Five Tritons won medals at last season's regional, which was hosted by Stanford. Former Triton foilist Rose Forcier and current sabreur Munira Gesner advanced out of the regional to compete at the National Championships, hosted by Ohio State.
