LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 27th-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis team lost for just the third time this season Sunday as it was defeated, 7-2, by No. 19 Rollins College at Northview Courts.

Rollins, located in Winter Park, Fla., earned victories in two of three doubles matches and five of six singles contests. UCSD picked up wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles.

The Tritons fell to 6-3 overall on the season, while the Tars improved to 5-2. The loss snapped a two-match win streak for UCSD and Rollins won its third straight.

Triton freshman Kyra Scott kept her perfect singles record intact, winning at No. 2 to move to 8-0. Scott defeated Ashley Rosenberg in a super tiebreaker by scores of 6-2, 4-6 and 10-6.

Junior Tara Vanooteghem also came into the match with an unblemished singles record for UCSD, but suffered her first defeat Sunday. Playing against Mariana Salvador at No. 5, Vanooteghem lost in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) and now holds an 8-1 record this season.

In the No. 1 singles match, UCSD senior Melissa Breisacher was downed by Elissa DeCampli, 6-1 and 6-2. The Tars won at No. 3 through No. 6 in straight sets as well.

Freshman Paula Chou and senior Jacquelyn Davis were in the No. 2 doubles spot for the Tritons. Playing against DeCampli and Rosenberg, they cruised to an 8-2 victory. The Chou and Davis duo has compiled an 8-1 mark in doubles matches so far this year.

Rollins won the other two doubles match-ups as Ashley Loft and Lisa Loft defeated Breisacher and Scott at No. 1 (8-6) and Carli Davis and Salvador took down sophomore Melinda Chu and Vanooteghem at No. 3 (8-4).

UCSD hosts Division I Seton Hall on Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m.
