LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego Athletics Department is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive season a majority of its men's basketball games will be broadcast live by ESPN Radio 1700 AM.

The games will be available on radio as well as online at ESPNRadio1700.com. 

A total of 18 preseason and regular season games will be aired, beginning with UCSD's exhibition at 20th-ranked San Diego State on Monday, Nov. 5 (7 p.m.). Following that, all 13 of the Tritons' home games will be broadcast from RIMAC Arena, as well as four California Collegiate Athletic Assocation (CCAA) road match-ups.

"We're excited to not only be back on ESPN 1700 this season, but also to have an expanded schedule," said UCSD Senior Associate Athletics Director Ken Grosse. "The multi-leveled branding we're able to achieve with the ESPN partnership is significant on and off-campus and we feel we're in position to provide an even better product to Triton basketball fans this year." 

Also for the second year in a row, UCSD head coach Chris Carlson will have a weekly segment on XX Sports 1090's "Coach" Kentera Show. Carlson will join host John Kentera every Tuesday night at approximately 8:30 p.m. throughout the season. You can listen to the show live online here.

"We're extremely happy to be partnering once again with ESPN Radio," said Carlson, who is heading into his sixth season leading the Tritons. "This offers fans more opportunities to experience high-level collegiate basketball in one of the most competitive leagues in the country."  

The home broadcast slate begins on Saturday, Nov. 17 as the Tritons host non-conference opponent Grand Canyon at 7 p.m. The first of the four CCAA road games to be aired will be the Cal State San Bernardino contest on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Craig Elsten, who is entering his fourth season as the voice of Triton basketball during the team's online broadcasts, will serve as the play-by-play announcer. Color commentary will be handled by several individuals, including former UCSD players.

A longtime San Diego media personality, Elsten currently serves as the media relations director and play-by-play broadcaster of the San Diego Sockers. A UC San Diego alum, he has served as the host of Triton Talk, UCSD's weekly online radio show, since 2009.

Elsten will be joined by Jack Cronin for the San Diego State broadcast. Program director at XX Sports 1090 and ESPN 1700 in San Diego, Cronin handled a majority of the color commentary for UCSD's 2011-12 broadcasts. 

UCSD's radio partners include San Diego County Toyota dealers, UC San Diego Sports Medicine, Papa John's Pizza and the UCSD Alumni Association.
