Release: Friday 11/29/2013

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Erin Dautremont scored a game-high 26 points to lead the UC San Diego women's basketball team to a narrow 62-61 overtime victory against Metro State Friday in UCSD Thanksgiving Classic play at RIMAC Arena.

UCSD improved to 3-1 overall on the young season, while MSU dropped to 1-2. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Dautremont had a hot hand all night, making 8 of 12 shots from the field, including all four of her three-point attempts. The forward was 6-for-8 from the free throw line and collected a team-high six rebounds as well.

Guard Miranda Seto netted 11 points while also contributing four rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists. Guards Haley Anderson and Megan Perry each pulled down five rebounds for the Tritons.

For the Roadrunners, Amy Nelson had 21 points, seven boards and two steals. She went 7-for-18 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Tai Jensen totaled nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Tritons shot 42 percent (20-for-48) in the game, while the Roadrunners finished at 35 percent (20-for-58). Both teams turned the ball over 20 times. UCSD made seven of its 14 three-point attempts.

UC San Diego scored the first five points in overtime on a jumper by Seto and a three-pointer by Dautremont. A free throw by Anderson with 1:32 left put the Tritons up by six, 62-56, their largest lead of the night. However, MSU scored back-to-back layups and, with two seconds remaining, had a chance to tie it with a pair of free throws, but made just one.

UCSD trailed by as many as seven points in the first half. MSU led by just two, 30-28, at halftime. Down by two, 54-52, with just six seconds on the clock in the second half, Dautremont was fouled and made a pair of free throws to tie the game and send it into overtime.

In the tournament's first game, Azusa Pacific (2-2) handily defeated Cal State San Bernardino (0-4) by a score of 65-50. APU's Kelly Hardeman led all players with 20 points, while Sendy Valles added 18. For CSUSB, Tayllor Gipson recorded a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The UCSD Thanksgiving Classic concludes Saturday with a pair of games. At 4 p.m., Metro State takes on Cal State San Bernardino, while UC San Diego plays Azusa Pacific at 6 p.m.
