Feder Named to Daktronics West Region All-Star First Team
Release: Thursday 03/14/2013

LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego's Daisy Feder has been selected to the Daktronics West Region Women's Basketball All-Star First Team. The announcement was made Thursday.

Feder has been instrumental in helping lead UCSD to its current 22-10 record, its first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament title and the team's eighth trip to the NCAA postseason since 2004.

The senior guard leads the Tritons in several statistical categories, including scoring (18.3 points/game), assists (87), field goals (180), three-point field goals (85), free throws (140) and free throw percentage (.848). Among all CCAA players, Feder is first in three-pointers per game (2.7) and free throw percentage and third in scoring and field goals per game (5.6). Nationally, she ranks 19th in threes per game, 25th in scoring and 30th in free throw percentage.

Feder has totaled at least 10 points in 30 of 32 games played this season, including a career-high 29 on two occasions. She has posted 20 or more points 11 times and has been the Tritons' leading scorer in 19 contests.

The Santa Monica native scored the 1,000th point of her career this year and broke the school's single season record for three-pointers.

She was named the 2013 CCAA Most Valuable Player and was selected to the league's all-tournament team last week in Ontario, Calif.

It is Feder's second consecutive West Region honor from Daktronics as she was tabbed to the second team in 2012. She is now eligible for Daktronics All-America status. That team will be announced on Friday, March 22.

Center Britt Harris of Western Washington was named the West Region Player of the Year.

UCSD travels to Bellingham, Wash., this week for the NCAA West Regional. The third-seeded Tritons take on No. 6 Grand Canyon in a quarterfinal on Saturday, March 16, at noon. The winner of the Regional will advance to the NCAA Elite Eight.
