What's On Tap
Following a nine-day layoff over the holidays, the undefeated UC San Diego women's basketball team will return to the court this week when San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona come to town for a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association matchups. The Tritons will host the Gators on Thursday evening to begin the week, before squaring off with the unbeaten Broncos on Friday. Both contests will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at RIMAC Arena on campus.

For the Record
UCSD enters Thursday's clash with San Francisco State sporting a flawless 10-0 overall record and a 4-0 mark in CCAA play after capturing a 78-68 victory at Cal State San Bernardino in its last game on Monday, Dec. 19. The Tritons defeated the Coyotes for the second time in as many games, having also registered a resounding 70-45 triumph over CSUSB on Dec. 12 to begin the home-and-home series between the two squads. UCSD has started the season 10-0 for the second time in three years, also accomplishing the feat in 2009-10. Head coach Charity Elliott's squad won its first 14 games that year, suffering its first defeat on Jan. 21 at Humboldt State. The Tritons are 3-0 at home so far this season.

Rank and File
UCSD is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll that was released on Dec. 13. The Tritons, who began the season at No. 13, moved up one spot the current poll after coming in at No. 5 for two straight weeks before that. UC San Diego hasn't been ranked this high since December of the 2007-08 campaign (Charity Elliott's first season), when the squad earned a No. 3 ranking with a record of 8-0. The Tritons were ranked as high as No. 11 nationally in 2010-11.

Tritons Use Strong Second Half to Down CSUSB
Trailing 41-36 less than 30 seconds into the second half, UCSD outscored Cal State San Bernardino 22-7 over the next eight minutes and held on for its 10th consecutive victory, 78-68, on Dec. 19. The Tritons, who had not trailed in the second half of any game this season, made sure the deficit didn't last long, outscoring the Coyotes 42-29 in the period to record the season sweep of San Bernardino. After shooting just 36% in the first half, UCSD shot 52% in the second, converting 16-of-31 attempts from the field and draining 6-of-11 from the three-point line, 55%. While the Tritons have been a dominant first half team this season -- they are outscoring their opponents by an average of 12 points in the period -- they proved they can come from behind to win against the Coyotes.

Three's Company
The Tritons finished 9-of-23 from the three-point line in the win over Cal State San Bernardino on Dec. 19, tying their season-high for three-point field goals made and setting a new season mark for three-pointers attempted. UCSD also hit nine triples in the 80-65 win over Fort Lewis College on Nov. 26, finishing 9-of-22 from behind the arc. The long ball has been a big part of the Tritons' offense this season as they have finished with at least five threes made in seven of their 10 games. The Tritons currently rank ninth out of 12 teams in the CCAA in three-point shooting percentage at just under 30%, but they lead the league in three-pointers made with 58.
