WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UC San Diego senior guard Daisy Feder was named the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 23, the league office announced on Monday.
Feder put together a pair of tremendous performances for No. 1 UCSD over the weekend, averaging 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in home wins over Sonoma State and Humboldt State. She shot 43% (13-30) from the field and dropped 7-of-14 from the three-point line, 50%.
In Friday's 73-57 triumph over the Seawolves, Feder scored a career-high 23 points, while also tallying six rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a pair of steals. The Santa Monica native finished 5-of-12 from the field and hit 4-of-8 from downtown to lead the Tritons to their school record 17th consecutive victory.
Feder followed that effort with another impressive outing on Saturday, scoring a game-high 20 points and adding a career-high nine rebounds and four assists in the Tritons' resounding 74-49 victory over the Lumberjacks. She finished 8-of-18 from the floor and sank 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
This marks UCSD's second consecutive CCAA Player of the Week honor and fourth overall this season. Chelsea Carlisle took home the award last week after averaging 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 11.0 assists and 3.0 steals in home wins over Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay January 13 and 14.
Feder and the Tritons will put their 18-game winning streak on the line when they face No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State on the road on Thursday and Saturday this week.
