POMONA, Calif. - Behind another stellar defensive performance, the top-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team recorded a 69-53 win over No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday evening at Kellogg Gym on the CPP campus.

Chelsea Carlisle scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures for the Tritons, who turned in a complete effort on both sides of the ball to sweep the season series with the Broncos and remain undefeated in 2011-12. UCSD shot 42% from the field, while limiting Pomona to just 34% on the other end.

UCSD improves to 19-0 overall and 13-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association with the win, while Cal Poly Pomona falls to 12-5 on the season and 8-5 in the CCAA. The Broncos have now lost three of their last four to fall to fifth place in the conference standings.

Carlisle finished 6-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown to pave the way for the Tritons offense, which entered Thursday's clash fifth in the nation in scoring at 80.0 points per game. The senior point guard added six rebounds, a game-high five assists and two steals.

Emily Osga tallied her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds as did Erin Dautremont, who finished with 11 points and 10 boards. Daisy Feder added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.

UCSD finished 25-of-59 from the field, including 7-of-19 from downtown, 37%. The Tritons shot a blistering 52% in the second half to put the game away.

Defensively, UCSD was locked in once again, holding the home team to just 22-of-64 shooting from the floor. The Tritons, who have leaned heavily on their offense during their school record 19-game winning streak, have been playing much better on the defensive end of the floor of late, limiting their previous four opponents to an average of just 55.5 points on 34% shooting.

Jennifer Bryant scored a career-high 17 points for the Broncos, but she was the only player to finish in double figures for Pomona. She finished 6-of-10 from the field and hit 5-of-7 from downtown. UCSD held Megan Ford and Sarah Semenero, CPP's two leading scorers, to a combined 16 points on 7-of-27 shooting.

After a back and forth opening couple of minutes, UCSD took control with a huge 14-2 run spanning almost 13 minutes of the first half. The Triton defense was the catalyst, holding the Broncos scoreless for over nine minutes during the run to build a 21-12 lead.

UCSD led 24-15 following a three-pointer by Natalie Luzar, before Rosslyn Beard scored inside to bring Pomona within 24-17 at the half. The Tritons' lead was just seven at the break despite a 7-of-28 shooting performance by the Broncos in the period.

The Tritons extended their lead to 34-24 following another Luzar triple five minutes into the second half, but the Broncos scored the next six to pull within four with 12:43 remaining. It was all UCSD after that as Carlisle answered with a trey to make it 37-30 and a three-point play from Feder put the Tritons on top 45-34 a minute and a half later.

A layup by Feder and another Carlisle triple gave UCSD its biggest lead of the game at 63-47 with 4:32 left to play and the Tritons went on to win by the same margin, 69-53.

UCSD will now travel to San Francisco State to take on the Gators on Saturday evening at the Swamp. The Tritons won the first meeting of the year, 79-44, on December 29 in La Jolla.
