AZUSA PACIFIC REWIND
UCSD opened its home season last week with a resounding 79-48 blowout of Azusa Pacific on the first day of action at the Thanksgiving Classic in La Jolla. Emily Osga totaled a game-high 21 points and was perfect from the floor, nailing all seven of her shot attempts, three of those being three-pointers. She also didn't miss from the free throw line, going 4-for-4. Daisy Feder recorded 19 points and hit four treys, while Erin Daturemont finished with 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting. The Tritons, who led 43-21 at the half, made 50.9 percent of their shots in the game. They out-rebounded the Cougars 39-27 and held the opposition to 37.7 percent shooting.

TAMPA REWIND
The final game of the Thanksgiving Classic at RIMAC Arena last week turned out to be a thriller as UCSD fell to Tampa, 74-66, in double overtime. After regulation, the score was tied 54-54. Both squads put up another seven points in the first overtime, but the Spartans pulled it out by out-scoring the Tritons 13-5 in the second extra period. Daisy Feder led all players with 21 points while Erin Dautremont recorded UCSD's first double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

ON YOUR MARKS
Daisy Feder has kept herself busy so far this season by setting career marks. Just six days after she established a new career-best with 28 points against Grand Canyon, Feder upped that by one, pouring in 29 in a win over Seattle Pacific. Her nine field goals made and seven three-pointers drained in that game were also career-highs. The senior entered the season with 966 career points and eclipsed 1,000 on Nov. 10 vs. Grand Canyon in Anaheim.

THE WIZARD OF OSGA
Senior guard Emily Osga is quickly approaching the 1,000 point mark for her career. The San Diego native entered the season with 835 points and has added 101 more so far, giving her a total of 936. Osga leads the Tritons and ranks second in the CCAA in field goal percentage (58.5 %), so it shouldn't take her long to drain the remaining 64 points.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE LA JOLLA
Last week's Thanksgiving Classic kicked off a six game home stand for UCSD, which will be its longest of the regular season. The stretch began against Azusa Pacific on Nov. 23 and will conclude on Dec. 30 when Cal State San Bernardino visits RIMAC Arena. The Tritons were due for an extended period at home as they played their first five games on the road. UCSD went 16-2 in La Jolla last season and won all 11 CCAA games that were contested at RIMAC.

TAKING ON THE RANKED
Three of UCSD's first five opponents of the season were ranked among the nation's top 25 - Grand Canyon at No. 13, Western Washington at No. 14 and Gannon at No. 15. Two of those squads have since moved up in the rankings as Western Washington is eighth and Gannon is 11th in the most recent WBCA poll, which was released this past Tuesday. Grand Canyon is still ranked, but has slipped to No. 18.

A SEASON TO REMEMBER
UCSD broke a school record for victories last season, finishing at 30-3 overall. The Tritons won the CCAA regular season crown with a 21-1 mark and advanced to the finals of the NCAA West Regional. Ranked No. 1 in the nation for seven straight weeks, UCSD defeated Chico State and Western Washington in Regional play before falling to Alaska-Anchorage in the title game. Senior guard Chelsea Carlisle was named a WBCA All-American while four Tritons were named First Team All-CCAA. Head coach Charity Elliott was tabbed the West Region Coach of the Year.
