Release: Wednesday 01/09/2013

LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego women's basketball player Daisy Feder has been named a Star of the Month for December by the San Diego Hall of Champions.

A senior guard, Feder averaged a team-high 22.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game over three California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) contests. She also led UCSD in field goals made (23), field goal percentage (.500, 23-for-46), three-pointers made (11) and three-point field goal percentage (.440, 11-for-25) over the span. Feder drained 11 of 12 free throw attempts, just under 92 percent.

In her final outing of the month, a 57-34 win over Cal State San Bernardino at home, Feder recorded her first double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. Both totals were game-highs. Two weeks prior, Feder rang up 28 points, one shy of her career-high, on 9-for-19 shooting to lead all players in a tight 66-62 loss at Cal State San Bernardino. She also added a game-best nine boards. Feder tipped off her productive month on Dec. 1 by hitting nine of 16 shots from the floor and finishing with a team-high 25 points in a 74-66 home victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Santa Monica native currently leads the CCAA and ranks seventh in the country with her 21.1 points per game average. She also ranks seventh nationally in three-pointers per game (3.31).

It is the second time in 2012 that Feder has been named a Star of the Month by the SDHOC as she picked up the honor back in February.

Seven other Tritons were tabbed Stars of the Month in 2012, including Emily Adamczyk (swimming, March), Cassie Callahan (soccer, September), Danielle Dahle (volleyball, October), Camille Gaito (softball, April), Gabi Hernandez (soccer, November), Izzy Pozurama (soccer, October) and Danny Susdorf (baseball, April).
