Last Sunday afternoon's 4-1 rout at Humboldt State got UCSD back in the win column following a three-game winless and two-game scoreless stretch, both season longs. Senior Hayley Johnson earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors after her two-goal performance. The Tritons previously produced a scoreless tie on Friday at then-No. 13 Sonoma State in their first match-up with a nationally-ranked opponent of 2012. UCSD is rated 25th in the latest national poll.

Cal State L.A. is the top threat to UCSD defending its California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division crown. The Golden Eagles sit in second place, five points behind the first-place Tritons. UCSD and Cal State L.A. are rated fourth and seventh, respectively, in this week's NSCAA West Region poll. The Golden Eagles played to a pair of scoreless home draws against Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State last weekend, and are unbeaten (2-0-2) over their last four. Junior midfielder Megan Ollar has a team-best eight points from three goals and two assists, while senior Gabriella Batmani (0.83 GAA) has played every minute in the CSULA goal and posted four consecutive shutouts. The San Jose native has not given up a score in 400 minutes.

UCSD edged Cal State L.A. earlier this season, 2-1, in a thriller in Los Angeles on Sept. 14. The deciding Triton goal came from Jessica Wi off a free kick into the upper right corner from 21 yards with just three ticks remaining in the second overtime period. UCSD holds the advantage in the all-time series, 14-8-1.

Cal State Dominguez Hills heads into the weekend in last place in the CCAA South. The Toros split a pair of 2-1 decisions at home last weekend, falling to Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday after edging San Francisco State on Friday, the winner coming from Ani Eishoei at 104:07 of double overtime. Junior forward Claudia Toledo has a team-best nine points from four goals and an assist, while Eishoei has tallied three times. Senior Tiffany Hollis (1.11 GAA) is the regular CSUDH goalkeeper. The Toros host Cal State San Bernardino on Friday ahead of their clash with the Tritons.

UCSD and CSUDH played to a 1-1 draw at Triton Soccer Field on Sept. 28 in front of a season-high crowd of 858. Triton senior Gabi Hernandez and Olivia Patterson traded second-half strikes. The Tritons lead the all-time series, 20-16-5.

Brian McManus is in his 26th season as the head coach of the UC San Diego women's soccer program. He has led the Tritons to all seven of their national titles, with five in the NCAA Division III and two in Division II. McManus' overall record currently stands at 425-64-42, for a career win percentage of .840. He trails only Gabe Mejail of Merrimack (429) for the most victories among current Division II coaches.
