WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The second-ranked UC San Diego women's soccer team has been picked to win the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) South Division and postseason tournament following a poll of league coaches, it was announced Thursday.

UCSD was a unanimous pick to win its respective division after receiving a league-high 66 points and 11 first-place votes. The Tritons are also the favorite to win the CCAA Tournament, garnering eight votes.

Cal State Dominguez Hills collected 48 points to finish second and defending South champion Cal State L.A. was picked third with 45 points and a single first-place vote. Cal State San Bernardino (33 points) was fourth, followed by 2010 conference champion San Francisco State (29 points) and Cal Poly Pomona (25 points).

Cal State Stanislaus (64 points) is the coaches' pick to take the North Division and is followed by Chico State (56 points).

UCSD finished second in the South Division behind CSULA a year ago, and then was eliminated in the first round of the CCAA Tournament by SFSU in a shootout. However, the Tritons recovered to win five consecutive NCAA Tournament matches before falling to Grand Valley State in the national championship match.

The Tritons open their season with a trip to the Northwest, where they will take on Western Washington and No. 10 Seattle Pacific on September 1 and 3, respectively. Their first CCAA match is on September 9 at No. 23 CSULA.

UCSD's first home match is September 25 at 12:00 p.m. against Cal State San Bernardino.
