The Tritons are looking to stay undefeated against San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona this weekend. Thing is, SFSU and CPP are trying to stay blemish-free as well in 2011.

TRITON SOCCER KICKOFF
UCSD's first seven matches of 2011 are on the road, but the Tritons will host their first home match of the season next Sunday, September 25 at noon against Cal State San Bernardino. The match will be the first leg of a doubleheader and will be followed by the men's soccer game vs. CSUSB at 2:30 p.m. UCSD will also be celebrating the Triton Soccer Kickoff , a 10-event competition between participating youth soccer clubs in the San Diego area. With a specific point system per event, the club that compiles the most overall points will win the perpetual trophy that it can keep in its trophy case for the next year. Competitions include: a four-person dribbling relay, two-person juggling, target shooting, individual headers, individual juggling and many more. For more information on how to sign-up, click here.

TOP 25? NO PROBLEM
UCSD faced two tough matches this weekend against then-No. 11 Cal State L.A. and then-No. 19 Cal State San Bernardino. Sarah McTigue scored in the third minute against the Golden Eagles on Friday as the Tritons escaped CSULA with the 1-0 victory. Two days later, Cassie Callahan scored the first goal of her Triton career to even the match at 1-1 in the 50th minute. The teams would battle another 60 minutes with no score and end the match at one apiece. Sunday's match was the third consecutive match in which the Tritons had faced a Top 25 team. In those matches, UCSD is 2-0-1, including September 3's 2-0 win at then-No. 10 Seattle Pacific. Interestingly enough, SPU, CSULA and CSUSB have all fallen outside the Top 25 this week. UCSD remains No. 5 in the nation and No.1 in the West Region.

SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE
The top four teams in the CCAA South Division all have one thing in common- neither one of them has dropped a match in 2011. With Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-0, 2-0), UCSD (2-0-2, 1-0-1), San Francisco State (3-0-1, 1-0-1) and Cal Poly Pomona (3-0-1, 1-0-1) sitting one, two, three and four, respectively, this weekend's CCAA competition should weed-out the pretenders from the contenders. SFSU has gone to overtime in each of its first four contests and is yet to give up a goal in 2011. The Gators are currently one of the top defensive teams in NCAA Division II; they are tied for first in the nation in goals against average, shutout percentage and saves percentage. UCSD is 1-1-2 in its last four contests against SFSU, having lost to the Gators in the 2010 CCAA First Round in a shootout. The Tritons took down the Gators less than a week later in the NCAA First Round, 3-1, on November 11, 2010.

Cal Poly Pomona is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend, where the Broncos beat Cal State East Bay, 3-1, before tying SFSU, 0-0. CPP opened the season with home wins over Grand Canyon and Colorado Mesa, and are paced by points-leaders Justine Barclay, Alison Sauve and Valerie Strawn. Picked to finish last in the CCAA South Division in the CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll, the Broncos find themselves as the fourth-ranked team in the West Region. In their last four matches against the Broncos, the Tritons are 4-0. UCSD is 28-10-3 all-time against CPP.
