Cassie Callahan, a freshman from Coronado, helped the Tritons go undefeated on the weekend, scoring a goal in each of UCSD's wins at San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona. She is the first Triton to earn CCAA Player of the Week this season and she has scored a goal in each of the team's last three matches. In September 11's 1-1 tie at Cal State San Bernardino, Callahan stole a ball at the top of the box and fired a shot over the keeper's shoulder to tie the match. She followed that performance with a goal in the 79th minute at SFSU on Friday, September 16, forcing overtime in a match that the Tritons would win via golden goal. On Sunday, she headed-home a corner kick in UCSD's 4-0 win over CPP. Callahan currently leads the squad with three goals, six points and 17 shots on the young season.

UCSD would have to dig itself out of a hole in last Friday's match at San Francisco State. Callahan evened the match in the 79th minute at 1-1, forcing the Tritons to play their third overtime game of the season. In extra time, midfielder Shelby Wong seized her opportunity along the left sideline and took-on a defender on the edge of the box. She cut back to the inside, took a pair of dribbles and rocketed a low-driven shot to give the Tritons a 2-1 win on her golden goal. Sunday's contest at Cal Poly Pomona was not nearly as close. Hayley Johnson registered two assists by connecting with Callahan and Izzy Pozurama on corner kicks. Kylie Hill and Gabi Hernandez also recorded goals in the Tritons' 4-0 win.
