CHICO, Calif. -
The No. 2 UC San Diego women's soccer team's six-match win streak ended at Chico State on Friday night, as the Tritons and Wildcats battled to a 0-0 tie in California Collegiate Athletic Association play at University Soccer Stadium.
UCSD remains undefeated on the season at 8-0-3 overall and 7-0-2 in CCAA play. CSUC is unbeaten in its last five matches and moves to 5-3-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference play.
Senior goalkeeper Kristin Armstrong tallied a season-high nine saves on the day. Just after halftime, Armstrong dove to punch Alyx William's header wide of the post. True freshman goalkeeper Brianna Furner kept the scoreboard clean for the Wildcats with a pair of nice saves over the next 10 minutes. She dove to snare Anne Wethe's header from close range that followed a Hayley Johnson corner kick. Then Furner tracked back and went high to punch Danielle Dixon's shot from distance off the crossbar and over.
