IN THE RANKS
The UC San Diego women's soccer team debuts at No. 18 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Preseason Poll, as it enters the season coming off a 13-3-4 overall record in 2011. The Tritons also finished the season atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) South Division standings.

SCOUTING CENTRAL WASHINGTON
Central Washington finished the 2011 season with a 9-5-4 overall record, 8-4-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), earning fourth in its final conference standings. The Wildcats ended the season with both a winning record for the first time since 2008 and their most conference wins since joining the GNAC back in 2001. The Tritons post a 5-0 overall record when competing against the Wildcats.

WHEN WE LAST MET THE WILDCATS
The previous meeting between the two teams was back in August of 2009 as UC San Diego's season opener. 2011 graduate Sarah McTigue scored in the 104th minute to lead the Tritons to a 2-1 double-overtime victory over CWU.

SEASON PREVIEW
UCSD opens the CCAA regular season next weekend with a pair of home games against San Francisco State on Sept. 7 and Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 9. UC San Diego will go on a two-week road trip facing fellow Southern Division CCAA teams before returning home for the final weekend of September. Regular season conference play will continue through the final weekend of October when the Tritons head up to Northern California where they will face Cal State East Bay (Oct. 26) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Oct. 28). The CCAA Championship Tournament will take place the following weekend, Nov. 2-4.

BACK-TO-BACK
After leading the Tritons to their 10th CCAA South Division title and earning CCAA Coach of the Year for the fifth time, head coach Brian McManus was named NSCAA Division II West Region Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. McManus posts a 417-64-38 record on the La Jolla campus as he enters his 26th season with the UC San Diego women's soccer team.

LUCKY NUMBER SIX
UC San Diego placed a school-record six players on the NSCAA Division II All-West Region Team at the conclusion of the 2011 season. The Tritons also placed six players onto the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-West Region team, including 2011 graduate goalkeeper Kristin Armstrong, who earned the region's Player of the Year honors.
