UCSD boasted the most first-team selections, and was tied with conference foe Sonoma State for the most overall honorees.
Johnson, Wi and Wilson have started all 22 games this season to lead UCSD to a 16-2-4 overall mark, and both the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and West Region crowns. The Tritons have made it into the final weekend of the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship. Callahan has started all but the Senior Day match, with Hernandez starting 17 of 21 games played.
Wilson, a tri-captain who has played every minute of her final collegiate season and scored three goals as a center back, is the 2012 CCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player and an All-CCAA second-teamer. Callahan and Hernandez are the Tritons' joint leading goal-scorers at nine apiece, while Callahan has added seven assists for a team-best 25 points. Johnson and Wi, who each have produced four goals and six assists this season, with Johnson from her position at left back, joined Callahan on the All-CCAA First Team. Hernandez earned All-CCAA honorable mention.
This is Johnson's second straight Daktronics regional first-team honor, while Wilson was previously a two-time second-teamer in 2009 and 2011. A total of six Tritons were recognized a season ago, with three on the first team and three on the second, and All-American goalkeeper Kristin Armstrong tabbed the West Region Player of the Year.
Cal State Stanislaus forward Karenee Demery was selected the 2012 Daktronics West Region Player of the Year, her second such distinction in her three seasons.
The Tritons are headed to Evans, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 26, for the NCAA Semifinals. In search of their eighth national title, they will play third-ranked Grand Valley State of Allendale, Mich., at Blanchard Woods Park on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. PT.
