TURLOCK, Calif. - Going into the final road trip of the regular season, senior guard Daisy Feder blazed the trail for the UC San Diego women's basketball team on Friday at Fitzpatrick Arena with a double-double performance to lead the Tritons to a powerful 69-50 win over Cal State Stanislaus for their eighth victory in a row.

The second-place Tritons improve to 16-8 overall and 14-3 against California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) teams. UCSD will get its chance to match the CCAA leader's conference record when it takes on the first-place, 11th-ranked Chico State (19-2, 15-2 CCAA) at Acker Gym on Saturday for a game set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.

"We came out with a lot of energy and our defense really helped our offense get going," said first-year UCSD head coach Heidi VanDerveer. "We got in a good rhythm and several players put in good, quality minutes, which is very important this time of year."

In her second double-double effort this season, Feder led all players with 19 points and 11 rebounds and also had one assist, two steals and a block.

Sophomore forward McKennan Bertsch helped out with her 15 points, eight rebounds and a steal while junior forward Erin Dautremont scored 11 points and had eight rebounds, one assist, two blocks and a steal.

Keeping the Warriors in the game was junior forward Lauren Godde, who contributed a team-leading 18 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds, one assist and a game-high three blocks. Senior guard Devin Brown also put up strong numbers with her 10 points, four rebounds, team-high four assists, one block and a steal.

Points in the paint proved profitable for the Tritons, who outnumbered the Warriors, 30-12, in that category for the game. UCSD also led CSUS, 20-11, in both points off of turnovers and in bench points.

From the field, the Tritons went 24-for-59 (40.7%) over the 40 minutes, including an 11-for-25 (44.0%) performance in the second half. The Warriors shot poorly in both halves, making only seven attempts in each of them while going 14-for-64 (21.9%) for the game.

The Tritons took a comfortable 39-22 lead at the half and made it even bigger in the second frame. With still 15:08 to go in the game, junior guard Megan Perry scored on a three-pointer to progress the Tritons to a 53-27 lead. After Perry's basket, UCSD had all the points it needed to seal the victory.

At one point, UCSD led by as many as 27 when freshman center Taylor Hirz drained both of her free throws at the 6:39 mark while making the score, 63-36.

UCSD came ready to play and Feder proved that point by scoring six points within the opening minute of the contest.

The Tritons did their part on defense also, holding the Warriors to a dismal 1-for-8 (12.5%) from the field within the span of time before the first media timeout.

The Warriors came back though and took the lead on Lauren Godde's go-ahead free throw to break a 14-14 tie with 8:12 to go before halftime, marking the first of three lead changes in less than 30 seconds.

But after the Warriors grew their lead to as much as four, 20-16, with Erin Godde's trey at the 6:57 mark, Dautremont answered on a three-pointer of her own with 6:37 left in the opening frame to cut the lead to one, 20-19, to commence a 14-0 run.

Bertsch put up a layup to pull the Tritons ahead, 21-20, on the Tritons' next possession. The run was capped when Feder successfully converted her three-point play at the foul line to give UCSD a double-digit, 30-20 lead with 3:52 to spare before the intermission.

The last-place Warriors fall to 2-20 overall and 1-16 in CCAA play after losing their 11th consecutive contest. CSUS will play host to eighth-place Cal State San Bernardino (9-12, 7-10 CCAA) on Saturday for a game scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
