UCSD Soccer Programs Pick Up NSCAA Team Academic Award
Release: Thursday 12/03/2013

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The UC San Diego men’s and women’s soccer teams both recently earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.

A total of 872 college soccer teams (274 men, 598 women) in all divisions posted a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in the 2012-13 academic year. Of that number, UCSD was among 192 schools that had both its men’s and women’s programs recognized.

UCSD’s 25 players under head coach Jon Pascale on the 2012 men’s squad combined for a 3.09 team GPA, while Brian McManus’ 27 on the women’s roster produced a 3.17 GPA collectively. The award was given to the two Triton teams in 2011 as well.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field.
