Dautremont and Seto Power UCSD over No. 21 Chico State, 76-65

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego closed the game on a 12-4 run to earn a victory over No. 21 Chico State, 76-65, Saturday night at RIMAC Arena. Erin Dautremont recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds and Miranda Seto scored a game-high 19 points to power UCSD to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win.

UCSD improves to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the CCAA, while Chico State falls to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in CCAA play.

The Tritons finished 47.1% from the floor on 24-of-51 shooting and made 6-of-15 attempts from behind the arc. UCSD also converted on 22-of-28 shots from the free-throw line on the night. The Triton defense held Chico State to 38.9% from the field on 21-of-54 attempts. The Wildcats only converted on 4-of-22 shots from deep to finish 18.2% from three.

Chico State came out of the gate strong and grabbed a quick lead of 11 points, 23-12, at the 10:35 mark in the first half. The Tritons responded by closing the half strong to lead at the intermission by a pair, 38-36. UCSD closed the half on an 11-5 run, highlighted by six straight points from Dautremont.

The Tritons were led by Dautremont in the half, who totaled 14 points, and Seto, who poured in 10. Both squads shot 48% from the floor in the half.

The second half continued to be a battle until the Tritons closed the game on the 12-4 run to put the game out of reach. With the score 64-61 and 3:09 remaining, Dautremont nailed a jumper before Seto penetrated and converted on a three-point play the old fashioned way. Megan Perry finished the streak with a three and a layup to put the game out of reach for the Wildcats and give UCSD the 76-65 win.

Perry finished the night with 14 points and McKennan Bertsch amassed 12 points and eight rebounds in the win for the Tritons, respectively. Stephanie Yano and Dautremont led UCSD with five assists each.

The rebounding battle was won in favor of UCSD, 38-29, and both teams scored 30 points in the paint.

The Wildcats were led by 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists from Courtney Hamilton. Chico State finished with two other players in double figures, as Jazmine Miller recorded 11 points and McKenzie Dalthorp finished with 10 points, respectively.

The Tritons continue their five-game homestand with two more CCAA contests next week. UCSD faces Cal State East Bay on Friday, Jan. 10 and Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 11. Both games are slated for 5:30 tipoff at RIMAC Arena.
