Sara Robinson finished her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Tritons in 2012 after playing first base for UCSD from 2004-07. Hired by head coach Patti Gerckens in the summer of 2007, Robinson assists with all aspects of the program. She also serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Student Athlete Development and Compliance in the UCSD Athletics Department, overseeing financial aid and various areas of compliance and student services.
The Tritons have won a school-record 45 games in each of the past two
seasons and have made back-to-back apperances in the NCAA Division II
national title game. UCSD finished runner-up in 2012 after winning the
national championship for the first time in 2011.
Robinson helped UCSD to earn National Fastpitch Coaches
Association Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2011 on
the heels of the program's first-ever national championship.
During her four years with the Tritons, Robinson appeared in a total of 97 games, making 66 starts. In the field, she amassed a .989 fielding percentage, recording 430 putouts and 28 assists with only five errors in her four years with the program.
She graduated from UCSD in 2007 with a degree in Cognitive Science from Thurgood Marshall College.
