LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego track and field team will play host to Cal Poly Pomona and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday for the UCSD/CPP/CMS Triangular, held at Triton Track & Field Stadium. Events are scheduled to begin at noon.

Throwing as well as jumping events will commence at noon with the men's hammer throw, women's javelin, women's long jump and men's pole vault. Track events are set to get underway at 1:05 p.m. with the women's 400-meter relay. The last event of the day, the men's 1,600 relay, will start at 4:10 p.m.

UCSD swept CPP and CMS on both the men's and women's sides at last year's meet. The women accumulated 169 points to defeat CMS (91) and CPP (90), and the men tallied 152 points to beat the Broncos (119) and Stags (91).

In terms of returning student-athletes, there were six non-relay events on the women's side in which a Triton finished in first place at the meet. In three of those six events, returners took first and second place.

Eva Isaacs (38'4") and Uchenna Agbahiwe (35'8") finished in the top two slots of the shot put. Agbahiwe (136'9", 1st) and Isaacs (126'4", 2nd) accomplished the same feat in reverse order in the discus throw. The Tritons also went first and second in the javelin with Jessica Miklaski (134'3") and Aletha Vassilakis (117'4"), respectively.

Kathleen Hitchens won the 100 in 12.87 seconds and placed second in the 200 with a time of 26.61. Lorato Anderson finished first in the 800, clocking in at 2:22.84. Additionally, Veronica Bradley claimed first place in the high jump with a top mark of 5'3.75" and was the runner-up in the long jump (17'2.75").

Four returners won in five events on the men's side at last year's running of the meet. Zach Nagengast had winning throws in both the discus (158'4") and hammer (170'7"). Benjamin Berthet cleared the highest mark in the pole vault, a height of 14'9".

In the 3,000, Kellen Levy and Ben Rich took the top slots with respective finishing times of 8:40.59 and 8:48.42. The Tritons also had the first three finishers in the 110 hurdles with Quentin McWhorter (15.96), David Baker (16.09) and Jeffrey Lim (16.11) taking the top three spots.

UCSD will follow Saturday's meet with the 17th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday, Feb. 23. The meet, hosted by CMS, will kick off at 11 a.m.

Admission to the UCSD/CPP/CMS Triangular is free. Parking is free on weekends in the Hopkins Parking Structure south of the RIMAC Athletic Building. Directions to campus can be found here. Parking in lot 359 next to the track is reserved for officials.
