TURLOCK, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's golf team was back on the links Monday, competing in the 39th Annual Hanny/Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf and Country Club. The Tritons are currently in 13th place out of 20 teams with a score of 606 after the first two rounds of play.

UCSD followed an opening round 307 with a 299 in Round 2 to wrap up the day at 30-over par. The Tritons trail Sonoma State and Notre Dame de Namur by seven strokes entering the final round on Tuesday. Host Cal State Stanislaus is currently leading the field at -8, 568.

Sophomore Lewis Simon and freshman Jay Lim are leading the way for UCSD with identical two-round tallies of 5-over par, 149. Simon carded rounds of 73 and 76, while Lim followed a rough 78 in Round 1 with a 71 in Round 2. They are currently tied for 34th place with five other individuals.

Sophomore Jacob Williams had the next-best day for the Tritons, firing rounds of 77 and 76 to claim a share of 60th place at +9, 153. Williams has a two-stroke lead over teammate Fredrik Palmer-Picard, who wrapped up the day at +11, 155 following rounds of 79 and 76. His score was good enough for a share of 74th place.

Freshman Marc Herrmann is UCSD's fifth player in Turlock and currently sits in a tie for 93rd place at +16, 160. He carded an opening round 79, followed by an 81 in Round 2.

No. 4 Cal State Stanislaus has a commanding 11-stroke lead over second place and seventh-ranked Western Washington after impressive rounds of 282 and 286 on Monday. WWU concluded the day at +3, 579 following rounds of 288 and 291. No. 5 Chico State is currently in third place at +9, 585, followed by Dixie State and Cal State East Bay in fourth at +11, 587.

Dixie State's Nick Drost sits atop the individual leaderboard through two rounds at -5, 139. He carded a 67 in the opening round and then shot a 72 in Round 2. Hawaii-Hilo's James Hall is currently in second place at -4, 140, followed by a three-way tie for third place at -2, 142.

The third and final round on the 6,641-yard, par-72 layout will get underway with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

UCSD finished 12th at the Hanny/Stanislaus Invite in 2011.
