A 2010 graduate of Westview High School in San Diego, where he was a standout on both the cross country and track and field teams ... Named the "Male Track Athlete of the Year" in his final season at WHS (2010) ... Holds the school record in the 800-meter run at 1 minute, 58.18 seconds, which he earned in a second-place showing at the Valley League Finals during his senior year (2010) ... Finished in ninth place (1:58.86) and in 14th (2:00.29) in the 800 at the San Diego CIF Prelims and San Diego CIF Finals, respectively, during his final season with the Wolverines (2010) ... Ran a personal best of 4:14.14 during his fifth-place finish in the 1,500 at the Falcon Relays as a senior (2010) ... Took 10th place upon setting a personal-record time of 4:28.03 in the 1,600, which occurred at the Escondido Invitational during his junior year (2009) ... Turned in a finishing time of 10:16.86 in his career-best 3,200 at the 2009 Valley League Finals, where he came in seventh place overall ... Was a two-time All-Valley League First Team and All-CIF squad performer in cross country (2008-09) ... Was named the team "MVP" in cross country as a senior (2009) ... Led the Wolverines to the state championships in cross country as a junior and senior (2008-09) ... Ran a personal-best 16:15.4 in the 5,000 at the SoCal Invitational, where he finished fifth overall as a senior (2009) ... Played football as a sophomore at Westview ... Transferred to UCSD in 2011 following one year at Arizona State, where he ran with the ASU Running Club and turned in a time of 24:54.01 at the Dave Murray Invitational to finish 56th overall (2010).

Is an environmental systems (environmental policy) major with a minor in urban studies and planning at Warren College ... Roots for the San Diego Chargers and Padres as well as the Phoenix Suns ... Teammate Matt Lenehan is his favorite athlete and one of his greatest influences ... Has also been inspired by Darren Sproles, Gandhi and The Beatles ... "Billy Madison" is his all-time favorite movie ... If he had to choose one meal for the rest of his life, it would be Costco samples ... His iPod is playing The Beach Boys ... Enjoys playing basketball, Frisbee, rock climbing, or going on other outdoor adventures in his spare time ... Hopes to work for the Environmental Protection Agency or a private company with a green initiative upon graduating from UCSD.
