LA JOLLA, Calif. - Max Jiganti
and Maxence Dutreix
of the UC San Diego men's tennis team won three matches at the 122nd Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships at La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club before falling in the Consolation Bracket quarterfinals in three sets to Adam Davison and Eric Kruetzer of Boston College.
Jiganti-Dutreix fell in its opening match of the tournament on Thursday, but recovered with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Appleby-Rosen. The pair advanced twice in the bracket due to opponent withdrawals. Davison-Kruetzer of BC overtook Jiganti-Dutreix, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
UCSD duos Armaun Emami-Jason Wall, Chapman Chan-Vincent Nguyen, Sam Ling-Junya Yoshida, Erik Elliott-Austin West and Jake Fellow-Rajeev Herekar all won their opening round matches on Thursday and Friday, but followed with a loss in the next round.
The 9-0 UCSD men's tennis team will start a seven-match home stand by hosting four home matches this week at Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons will play Western New Mexico on Tuesday, March 8 at 12:00 p.m. Barry will come to town to face UCSD on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and Hawaii Pacific will string-up the rackets on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Tritons will end the week against Lafayette College on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
