The UC San Diego men's tennis team increased its perfect record to 11-0 with a 5-4 victory over visiting Barry University on Friday afternoon at Northview Tennis Courts.
The No. 1 Triton doubles duo of Erik Elliott and Austin West took down their counterparts from Barry (6-4), Max Wimmer and Ollie Lemaitre, 8-5, while West defeated Lemaitre on his own in the singles competition, 7-6, 6-5. Elliott defeated BU No. 1 Emanuel Fraitzl, 6-4, 6-4, on the singles side.
Max Jiganti and Armaun Emami were the other two Tritons to win on the doubles side, taking down Quentin Vanchez and Simon Raagaard, 8-5. Jiganti also beat Sergio Velez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The Tritons will continue their eight-match home stand by returning to Northview Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to take on Hawaii Pacific (7-2). UCSD took down HPU previously this season, 5-4, at the Grand Canyon Invitational on Feb. 12. The Tritons will then welcome Lafayette College (4-1) to Northview at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
