PENSACOLA, Fla. - The No. 19 UC San Diego men's tennis team came up short against Barry University, the 2011 NCAA Division II National Runner-up, falling to the Buccaneers, 5-1, Saturday.

The Tritons fell to 12-9 on the final day of the White Sands Invitational. The third-ranked Buccaneers improved their record to 18-4.

In doubles play, Tritons Max Jiganti and Sam Ling defeated Romain Costamagna and Ollie Lemaitre, 8-4, at No. 3. Jiganti and Ling are now 5-1 at the No. 3 doubles position this season and are riding a four-match win streak.

UCSD's Devon Sousa and Austin West fell at the No. 1 spot, 8-6, to Fabian Groetch and Daniel Schmidt. At No. 2, Kona Luu and Jason Wall were defeated by Marco Mokrzycki and Leonel Vivas, 8-2. 

Jiganti, Junya Yoshida, and Ling did not complete singles play at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, as the match was called when Barry clinched the deciding fifth point. The rest of the singles contests were dominated by the Buccaneers, all in straight sets. Chapman Chan fell, 6-3 and 6-2, at the No. 1 position to Marco Mokrzycki, ranked No. 11 nationally.

The Tritons will head back to Southern California to take on Point Loma Nazarene in Point Loma on Apr. 12. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
