TURLOCK, Calif. - The UC San Diego softball team won both ends of a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) doubleheader against Cal State Stanislaus Friday, taking the opener 11-1 and the nightcap 11-3 at Warrior Softball Field.

With the pair of five-inning run rule victories, UCSD improved to 26-16 overall and 19-7 in CCAA play. CSUS dropped to 13-29 on the season and 6-20 in the conference.

In the day's first game, UCSD scored once in the first inning and three times in the third before exploding for seven runs in the fourth. The Tritons totaled 13 hits in the game.

Taylor Sepulveda went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Caitlin Brown was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Alissa Gutierrez and Kirsten Willmon each scored twice. Guitierrez also drove in a pair of runs.

Sepulveda stole home to earn the first run of the game. Originally reaching on a single to right field, she advanced on a sacrifice by Callie Grant and a single by Brown.

Singles by Nicole Spangler, Willmon, Gutierrez and Sepulveda, as well as an error by the Warrior infield, led the Tritons to a 4-0 lead in the third inning.

UCSD scored its seven runs in the fourth off five hits and two Stanislaus errors. All of the runs came with two outs as the first two batters of the inning were retired. Brown's double with the bases loaded scored the final three runs of the frame.

Down 11-0, the Warriors managed their lone run in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs and two runners on base, Kristan Burns singled down the left field line to drive in Sarah Locarnini.

Amy Droege led Stanislaus at the plate, going 2-for-2. The Warriors had just four hits in the game. Brittani Weatherford fell to 5-11 with the loss.

Jennifer Manuel (10-1) threw the opening four innings for UCSD, giving up two hits while retiring the side in order in the first and third innings to pick up her 10th win of the season. She walked two and struck out two.

Game two started with early success at the plate for both the Tritons and Warriors. After Spangler's RBI triple put a run on the board for UCSD in the first inning, Cal State Stanislaus took its first lead of the day with two runs in the bottom half.

The Tritons tied it with another single run in the second and broke the game wide open with a five-spot in the fourth. They brought in another four runs in the top of the fifth.

Maria Sykes, Sepulveda and Spangler each drove in a run and Brown knocked in two with a single to left in the fourth. The Tritons had six hits in the inning.

With two away in the fifth, UCSD scored its four runs on two hits, an error and four wild pitches by the Warriors. Sepulveda and Grant each drove in a run.

CSUS again plated a single run in the bottom of the fifth as a fielder's choice by Burns scored Ghianna Falconi.
