Monica Hall was named Director of Travel and Sports Camps at UC San Diego in July of 2010.
Hall is responsible for coordinating and reconciling all aspects of team travel including airfare, lodging, ground transportation and meals for all 23 of UCSD's intercollegiate athletic programs as well as recruiting and professional travel for coaches and administrative staff.
Hall serves as the liaison with travel companies to negotiate discounts and amenities while operating within NCAA guidelines and university policies and keeping the safety, health and welfare of the travelers in mind.
Hall also manages the department's sport camp program and supervises camps interns. She is responsible for advertising, website maintenance, facility reservations, risk management, hiring and payroll for camps. Since Hall’s hire in 2010, camp registration has increased from approximately 2,000 campers annually to over 3,200.
In addition, Hall assists the Athletics Communications staff with game management for various programs and is most commonly known for donning her zebra jersey as the official scorekeeper for men’s and women’s basketball.
Hall assumed her current position after working as the Athletics Program Coordinator for over a year. She was responsible for drafting game contracts for all home competitions, coordinating preseason housing arrangements with Housing and Dining Services and communicating with visiting teams and officials. She assisted with the management of postseason bids and hired, trained and supervised the front office student staff. Hall also served as the logistical coordinator for several special events, such as New Athlete Orientations, the All-Athlete Welcome Back event, the department's annual Kick-Off Meeting and the ICA Recognition Night banquet.
Prior to joining the Triton family, Hall spent eight years with the City of Chula Vista Recreation Department. As a Recreation Specialist, Planned, directed and supervised programs, special events and facility rentals. She trained and supervised part-time recreation staff and volunteers for many programs, scheduled and staffed the department’s camps and youth basketball leagues.
A San Diego native, Hall earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities with a focus in History from the University of San Diego in January 2008.
