The network of UCSD alumni athletes continues to expand and former Tritons are doing new and exciting things around the world. On an ongoing basis, we will keep you informed as to the whereabouts and activities of the men and women who once wore the blue and gold. To get an update of some of the former UCSD student-athletes that have worn the Triton uniforms proudly, please click on their names below to find out what they have been up to since graduation.

THEO ROBINS
Baseball
1998 – Roosevelt – History & Linguistics

A right-handed pitcher on the Triton Baseball team from 1995-98, Theo Robins compiled a 7-5 record while making 40 appearances as both a starter and reliever. As a freshman, he led the team in appearances, posted a 1.27 ERA and had two saves on a club that went 23-13.

After graduating with a double major in 1998, he attended Boston College Law School where he attained a degree in 2001. Since that time, Robins has worked in the New York City office of Bingham McCutchen LLP, a firm with 15 offices in the United States and abroad. His areas of focus are securities litigation, SEC/DOJ investigations into securities fraud and securities class actions.

He and his wife, Sima, also an attorney, live in Manhattan. Robins has continued to play baseball.

AMANDA PALMQUIST
Water Polo
1989 – Marshall – History

A four-year starter on Coach Denny Harper's Women's Water Polo team, Amanda Palmquist was the lone freshman in the starting lineup for the Tritons' 1986 national championship-the first at UCSD in her sport. The Tritons finished third in the nation in  her junior season, runner-up her final year and Palmquist was a second team All-American in 1988.

A Berkeley native, Palmquist has enjoyed a variety of experiences since graduating from then Third College (now Marshall) in 1989 with a degree in U.S. History and a minor in Sociology. She was part of the Peace Corps and U.S. A.I.D. Costa Rica from 1990-92 before working at New Media Telecommunications in 1993-94. After getting married (she met her husband in Costa Rica) and having two children, she took a career hiatus to raise her family. Then, from 2005-08 Palmquist was with East Bay Restaurant Supply and also owned a car repair business before coming back to the UC system in 2008. At that time she stepped into her current position, issuing contracts for Capital Projects at UC Berkeley.

Twenty years after playing at UCSD, she rekindled her water polo career, playing for Oakland Masters. Her team won the 40's Bracket at the Masters National Championships.

MATT AMERO
Track & Field
1998 – Muir – Animal Physiology & Neuroscience

An 800 m. specialist for the Triton Track & Field team in the late '90's, Matt Amero was a standout on both the track and in the classroom at UCSD. He was a team captain from 1995-97, was named Track Athlete of the Year in 1998 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He minored in economics, taught in the biology department, was on the Triton Athletes' Council and volunteered at both the VA Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital.

In 2002, Amero received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from UC San Francisco School of Dentistry. He did his residency at UCLA School of Dentistry. He moved back to his hometown of Placentia, CA in 2003 and has been practicing in nearby Yorba Linda since. Amero is involved with the local Rotary Club and other community activities and stays active by biking, running and playing softball. Pictured with girlfriend, Elyce.
