by UCSD

TURLOCK, Calif. - The No. 24 UC San Diego women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 sweep of league opponent Cal State Stanislaus Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.

UCSD cruised to the 25-15, 25-19, 25-13 win, improving to 18-6 overall and 13-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Stanislaus dropped to 7-17 and 4-12.

The Tritons doubled the amount of kills that the Warriors had, finishing with a 48-24 advantage. UCSD attacked at .285 (48-13-123) while holding CSUS to .083 (24-15-109). The dig differential was substantial as well, swinging 62-43 in favor of the visitor.

"This was a good road win for us tonight," said UCSD head coach Ricci Luyties. "We played a strong game defensively and took a couple their hitters out of their comfort zones."

Sophie Rowe was a force on both ends for the Tritons, recording a double-double with a match-high 15 kills and 13 digs. Rowe attacked at .387 with just three errors in 31 attempts.

"Sophie had a solid match at the net and in the back row," said Luyties.

Kameron Cooper and Sara McCutchan also posted strong attacks. Cooper hit .389 with eight kills and one error in 18 swings, while McCutchan had five kills and two errors in nine attacks, good for a .333 percentage.

Danielle Dahle had nine kills, 11 digs and two blocks for UCSD. Brittany Lombardi posted a match-high 19 digs.

UCSD had six aces from the service line, half of those coming from Sheridan Taylor

Jennifer Marsh had a team-high 10 kills for the Warriors. Ashley Pittman collected 11 digs.

It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Tritons, the team's longest streak of the season.

UCSD plays at Chico State Saturday at 7 p.m. The Wildcats lost in four sets vs. league-leading Cal State San Bernardino Friday at home. The Tritons upset Chico, which was ranked 18th nationally at the time, 3-1 at RIMAC Arena on Sept. 28.

Saturday night's match will be covered by live stats.
