SAM NICOLS

Crew

1998 - Warren - Chemical Engineering

UCSD’s Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1998 and captain of the men’s crew team, Nichols has shuttled back and forth between Europe and California since graduating.

Immediately after receiving his degree, he took two internships in Germany, one in the chemical industry at medical giant Bayer and the second in the electronics industry with Hewlett-Packard. He then got his M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering at UC Berkeley after which he moved to Gotheberg, Sweden in December of 2001.

Nicols is currently working at Chalmers University of Technology in a state-of-the-art microelectronics laboratory. He’s engaged to Anna Walleback, a native of Sweden and his latest sporting endeavor is rock climbing.
