Release: Saturday 09/11/2010
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The No. 11 UC San Diego men's water polo squad suffered a 16-6 loss on the road at No. 6 UC Santa Barbara Saturday, dropping the Tritons to a 3-3 record so far in 2010.

The Tritons held tough defensively through the first quarter, facing a 2-0 deficit after the first eight minutes. The Gauchos (2-0) picked up their offensive pace after that point though, outscoring UCSD 14-6 in the final 24 minutes of action.

UCSD recorded three goals in the third period, the best coming with one second left. Tritons' freshman Luke Syka received a pass on the post, which he quickly deflected for the score.

Brian Donohoe led the Tritons with two goals while Bryce Madsen, Ryan Allred, Graham Saber and Syka added one each. All-American goalkeeper David Morton tallied 14 saves for UCSD in the losing effort.

For the home squad, UCSB's Milos Golic and Zsombor Vincze posted impressive numbers, combining for 11 of the Gauchos' 16 scores.

Next up for the Tritons is the NorCal Tournament, a two-day competition held in Berkeley on the 18th and 19th of September.
