LA JOLLA, Calif. - Brian Donohoe of the UC San Diego men's water polo team was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team for District 8, it was announced Thursday.

Donohoe, a sophomore from Upland, Calif., led the Tritons with 45 goals while earning All-WWPA First Team accolades in the process. The 2011 NCAA Division II First Team All-American finished third on the team with 22 assists.

Earlier this year on Mar. 22, Donohoe earned Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Outstanding All-Academic honors for having a grade-point average between 3.71 and 4.0.

The award qualifies Donohoe for consideration to be a CoSIDA Academic All-American, which will be determined in the coming weeks. The awards are divvied out after an evaluation and voting process by sports information directors of colleges and universities across the nation.

UCSD ended the 2010 season at 13-13 overall and finished in fourth place at the WWPA Championships.
