UC San Diego Athletics, in conjunction with the San Diego Food Bank, is taking part in the 2012 Colleges Rock Hunger Campaign for the remainder of the month of October. The initiative provides nourishment for San Diego families in need. Anyone who brings a non-perishable food item to a UCSD intercollegiate sporting event will be admitted free of charge. Help a great cause and enjoy some exciting collegiate athletics at the same time!

UCSD holds a 10-2 overall record over the Falcons dating back to 2006. This record includes the Tritons two victories over Air Force earlier this season as they teams met up in both tournaments the Tritons entered, the NorCal Invitational and SoCal Tournament.

Thursday's game will feature live video and audio streaming at Play-by-play commentary will be done by Craig Elsten and color will feature women's water polo head coach Brad Kreutzkamp. If you haven't already signed up for the FREE subscription, sign up now.

The Air Force jumps above the Tritons in the Western Water Polo Association conference standings for the first time this season. The Falcons .571 winning percentage moves them from fourth to second, their highest ranking of the year, right about UCSD who sits in third with a .538 winning percentage. For more information on conference standings, the conference championship tournament, or anything else WWPA related, visit the conference homepage.

The WWPA rival squads will meet for the fourth time in this year's regular season schedule. Only one of the games thus far has been in the single day game setting, which is how this weekend's match will be. The Tritons earned the 10-8 win over the Lions at Canyonview Pool on Sept. 26.

On Nov. 6 2011, No. 1 UCLA limited the No. 11 UC San Diego men's water polo team to a single goal in each quarter of play as the Bruins topped the Tritons 9-4 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Canyonview Pool on Nov. 6 as the Tritons last home game of the 2011 season.

After recording a single game high saves (18) against Air Force, Cameron Ravanbach leads the Tritons in saves, breaking the 100 mark with 130 blocked shots on the season leading into this weekend. If Ravanbach continues at this rate, it is possible to break into the single season top 10 all-time saves list.
