NOT JUST ANOTHER LUAU
The No. 16 UCSD water polo team trekked to Hawaii for five games at the University of Hawaii. The Tritons scrimmaged the Canadian and Australian National Teams on Thursday in a round robin format and followed with two matches against No. 11 San Diego State and No. 5 Hawaii on Friday. UCSD dropped both of Friday's matches by scores of 10-6 and 13-4, respectively. The Tritons would recover by taking a critical WWPA match-up with Cal State East Bay on Saturday, 9-5. CSUEB came into that match trailing UCSD by a single game for the No. 2 seed in May 13-15's WWPA Championships; however, with the win, UCSD increased its lead to two games over CSUEB (7-3 WWPA) and two and a half games over Santa Clara (6-3 WWPA). No. 6 Loyola Marymount remains the top team in the WWPA with a 5-0 conference record. The Lions have won three of the last four conference championships.

TAYOR EARNS WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR
Goalie Allie Taylor earned WWPA Women's Player of the Week honors for March 24-30 after recording 28 saves, two assists and a steal in three matches over the weekend. Taylor had 11 saves and allowed just five goals in the conference win over Cal State East Bay. She was also solid in games against No. 5 Hawaii and No. 11 San Diego State.

OFF TO A HOT START
Freshman Sarah Lizotte received her first game action of the season and made quite an impact in her first three games in Triton colors. The Riverside native scored five goals, dished-out four assists, and tallied five steals in her first 12 quarters this season. She debuted with a goal and four steals against San Diego State on March 25 and added three assists against Hawaii, tying her for the most assists in a single game this season. Lizotte added a team-high three goals in the win against Cal State East Bay, notching an assist and a steal in the process. The freshman also drew five ejections over the weekend and attempted 14 shots.

BACK IN THE TOP-20
After two weeks of being absent in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-20 Poll, UCSD reappeared as No. 20 on March 30 after a 1-2 weekend in Hawaii. UCSD opened the season as the 19th-ranked team on January 12, eventually reaching as high as No. 17 between February 2-15. The Tritons have spent five of their nine weeks as a ranked team at No. 18- where they appeared the last time the team was in the poll on March 9.
