WWPA CHAMPIONSHIPS AT UCSD, APRIL 27-29
The 2012 Western Water Polo Association Women's Championship Tournament will take place April 27-29 at Canyonview Aquatic Center. HOOSIER DADDY?
UCSD used a powerful second half comeback to take down No. 11 Indiana in the first game of the Aztec Invitational on March 17, outscoring the Hoosiers 4-1 in the final 16 minutes to steal a 7-6 victory. The game served as revenge of sorts for the Tritons; the last time the two teams met - during the Second Round of the 2011 NCAA Championships - IU rallied to outscore UCSD 4-2 in the final stanza to swipe the game, 11-8. Last Saturday, UCSD set a team season high with eight field blocks and held the Hoosiers to a 25-percent success rate on 6-on-5's. Katherine Biehle and Leah Gonzales matched season highs with four steals and five assists, respectively, while Allie Taylor registered 10 saves in the cage. UCSD is 7-5 all-time against Indiana.

LIZOTTE TAKES SECOND WWPA P.O.W.
Sophomore Sarah Lizotte earned her second WWPA Player of the Week honors of 2012 after putting of numbers of 10 goals, three assists, five steals and seven ejections drawn at the Aztec Invite. Lizotte scored twice in UCSD's loss to No. 14 Hawaii before registering a game high six goals in the Tritons' 10-8 win over the Bisons of Bucknell in the Invite finale. The performance was her second six-goal outing of the year and was the fourth time she tallied five or more goals in a single contest this season.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?
UCSD faced Brown and Fresno Pacific around the same time of the year in 2011, coming away with two wins by scores of 11-9 and 10-8. Kirsten Bates scored four goals and Biehle added three in the win over the Bears, while Melissa Bartow and Lizotte each scored twice against the Sunbirds. UCSD is a combined 6-0 all-time against Brown and FPU, and has never faced Azusa Pacific.

BREAKING TRADITION
UCSD accomplished two things the team had never done before this season at the Aztec Invitational. Coming into the weekend, UCSD was 0-8 when trailing at the half against its opponents. However, the Tritons won both their games at the Invite when trailing at the break. Down 5-3 against Indiana, UCSD outscored IU 4-1 in the final two quarters to take the win. Behind 4-2 at the half against Bucknell the following day, the Tritons doubled the Bisons' scoring output in the second half, 8-4, to take it, 10-8. Conversely, UCSD sat at a perfect 9-0 when leading at the half heading into the Aztec Invitational. Up 5-1 at the break against Princeton, the Tritons were outscored 5-1 in the second half before falling to the Tigers, 7-6, in overtime.

THOUGHT I'D ADD
UCSD is 1-1 when tied at the half ... Bates moved into a tie for ninth place all-time with 153 career steals ... Jessica Tran scored seven goals and had two assists with three steals at the Aztec Invite ... Biehle registered a team-high eight steals at the Invite ... Gonzales finished the weekend with nine assists ... Bates and Biehle each scored five times in the four matches ... Bartow registered a team-high 10 ejections drawn.
