Jenna Williamson Promoted to Associate Head Coach of Women's Water Polo Program
Release: Thursday 06/05/2014

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Jenna Williamson has been promoted to the position of associate head coach of the UC San Diego women’s water polo program. The announcement was made Thursday by head coach Brad Kreutzkamp.

Williamson has completed five seasons at UCSD. She joined Kreutzkamp’s staff in 2010. The Tritons have finished with a winning record in three straight seasons and have made three appearances at the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship in the last five years.

“Of all the coaching decisions I have to make, this one was the easiest,” said Kreutzkamp. “Jenna has been an integral part of every aspect of this program since she came on board. Her knowledge of the game and love of our program makes her an irreplaceable piece to our success here at UCSD. We simply can not do it without her.”

In 2014, Williamson helped lead UCSD to a 27-13 campaign to mark a program record for wins in the NCAA era (since 2001). The Tritons made their third appearance at the NCAA Championship and won the WWPA title for the third time.

UCSD was up to sixth nationally at one point during the regular season, marking its highest ever ranking under Kreutzkamp, and finished at No. 12.

A year ago, the Tritons finished sixth at the NCAA Championship in a 26-15 season. It marked the highest national finish as a program.

During her second season as assistant coach in 2011, Williamson helped guide UCSD to its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championship.

Prior to her arrival on the La Jolla campus, Williamson coached water polo and swimming at her alma mater, Newport Harbor High School. She assisted the girls program to a CIF title in 2008.

Williamson graduated from UCLA with a degree in sociology in 2007. In her four seasons as a student-athlete, she helped capture three consecutive NCAA titles from 2005-07, including UCLA's historic 100th NCAA Championship title.
