Hammonds, Kawahara and McGuire Named to All-America Teams

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The University of California San Diego women's rowing team contributed three student-athletes to Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division II All-America teams in Nicole Hammonds, Marie Kawahara and Sydney McGuire .

All three Tritons were members of UC San Diego's Varsity 8 crew.

Hammonds, a senior, earned All-America First Team honors. Kawahara (coxswain) and McGuire, both sophomores, were selected to the Second Team. 

The trio helped lead UCSD to an appearance at the 2017 NCAA Championships in New Jersey. The V8 also captured the Berg Cup in Irvine and posted a fourth-place showing in the Grand Final at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.

"I am very proud of them," said UC San Diego head coach Colin Truex. "Each one played a huge role in the success we had this season."
