LA JOLLA, Calif. - The San Diego Row for the Cure has been postponed, due to the continuing concern about air quality this coming weekend. The regatta, scheduled for this coming weekend, October 28th, 2007, has been postponed to Saturday, February 23rd, using the same venue; Ski Beach, and the same course.

This event has raised over $80,000 for San Diegans during the last few years, assisting women through the San Diego Komen Foundation, who are uninsured and underinsured, enabling them to receive medical and material assistance during their treatment. With the recent firestorm, the needs of this community will increase, and our support even more important. It is for this reason that we have re-scheduled the event, rather than canceling it.  We hope you will be able to re-schedule and attend the February event.

For those crews who have registered, you have several options regarding your entry fees.

  1. You may transfer the fee to your February registration; this will be done automatically for you through Regatta Central and the Row for the Cure committee.
  2. You may term your regatta fees as a tax-deductible donation, and withdraw from the event. Please notify Patricia Pinkerton at ppinkert@ucsd.edu.
  3. You can request a refund for the regatta fees.  Please contact Patricia Pinkerton at ppinkert@ucsd.edu  to give us the events you are withdrawing from.

For those of you who have collected pledges and donor checks, those can be sent to:

San Diego Row for the Cure

4699 Murphy Canyon Road Suite 207

San Diego, CA 92123

If you would like to hand deliver the checks, please go to the UCSD boathouse at 1218 El Carmel Place in Mission Beach. Pledges will be credited to each organization for the organizational prizes, and pledge prizes will be delivered to individuals earning them.

We apologize for the postponement, but in the light of the devastating effects of the firestorm, we beg your patience and understanding.  We hope to see you in February!

Please contact Pattie Pinkerton at (858) 337-9344 or via email at ppikert@ucsd.edu if you have any further questions.
