Ryan Leake enters his second season as an assistant coach and first as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for UC San Diego. Leake assisted with the pitching staff in 2009, a season which saw the Tritons make their first College World Series appearance at the Division II level, while also completing a clean sweep of the CCAA and West Region Championships. Leake was also a member of the Tritons' first CCAA Championship club (along with current assistant coach, Chris Hom) that clinched the title in dramatic fashion in 2005.

Leake prepped at nearby Valley Center High School and spent two seasons with the University of Nevada before returning home to San Diego for three seasons with the Tritons. From 2004-2006, Leake helped lead the program to its first three CCAA playoff appearances, while spending time both as a starter and a reliever. An All-CCAA team selection following the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Leake left the program as the career leader in both saves and appearances.

Leake's coaching career began immediately after graduating from UCSD, with intermittent playing stints overseas. He was a starting pitcher and shortstop for the Tranas Cranes of the Swedish Elite Series, where he was twice named a league all-star and led the club to its first ever back-to-back playoff berths. Tranas finished each season ranked in the European Top 50 and has also boasted former Tritons John Beaven, Tyler Smith, and Matt Merrifield. During the 2007 collegiate season, Leake was the assistant pitching coach at Palomar College under current University of San Diego pitching coach, Tyler Kincaid, and then moved on to assume pitching and recruiting duties at the University of Sioux Falls in 2008.

After returning to UCSD for the magical 2009 run, Leake went on to serve as pitching coach and assistant head coach for the Anchorage Bucs of the prestigious Alaska Summer League.

Leake graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor's Degree in General Biology and currently resides in Del Mar.
