COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Incoming freshman setter Blake Crisp of the University of California San Diego men's volleyball program was named Thursday to the U.S. Men's Junior National Team. USA Volleyball made the announcement.

Crisp, out of Westlake Village (Westlake HS), has made the 12-player team as one of two setters. He was one of 17 standout players and three setters selected to the U.S. Men's Junior National Training Team, which has been practicing in the Chicago area since Aug. 15, at the Adversity Volleyball Club in Vernon Hills, Ill.

Crisp and Team USA will head to Havana, Cuba, reportedly on Saturday, for the NORCECA Men's U21 Continental Championship, which begins on Monday, Aug. 27, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 2. The U.S. will contest preliminary phase matches on Monday, Aug. 27, against Nicaragua (1 p.m. PT), Tuesday, Aug. 28 against Haiti (1 p.m. PT), and Wednesday, Aug. 29, against Canada (1 p.m. PT).

The winner of the Continental Championship will qualify for the 2019 FIVB U21 World Championship.

Crisp was named an America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) High School All-American back in mid-June, alongside another incoming UC San Diego prospect, Berkeley Miesfeld. They will arrive on the La Jolla campus this fall.

The only other Big West Conference representative is outside hitter Spencer Olivier, who redshirted as a freshman at national champion Long Beach State last season.

The other setter on the squad is Princeton's Joe Kelly, a rising sophomore out of El Segundo. The U.S. Men's Junior National Team is coached by Jonah Carson.

Crisp was initially one of 20 players invited to training camp from June 24-July 7 in Colorado Springs, Colo. That was back when the Continental Championship was to be held in Managua, Nicaragua, from July 8-16. The tournament was taken from that location, however, due to political unrest, thus altering the summer schedule for Crisp and Team USA. The change in dates also altered the training roster.
