“We believe that our scholar-athletes can be great both on the court and in the classroom, that it does not have to be one or the other, and Gabe, Bryce, Xander, Ryan, and Collin exemplify this philosophy," said head coach Kevin Ring. "Our players make good academic decisions with their time and study habits as well as utilize campus-wide resources to maximize their potential. These five honorees are true scholar-athletes.”

Jimenez and Lew were Big West Academic All-Conference honorees in 2018 as well. It marks the second major academic award for Shannon in 2019 as he was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

A total of 415 student-athletes earned Big West Academic All-Conference accolades from the spring sports of baseball, softball, beach volleyball, men's volleyball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and women's water polo in 2019.
