Brett Oosdyke Named CCAA Championship Scholar at Conference Basketball Tourney
POMONA, Calif. - Brett Oosdyke of the University of California San Diego men's basketball team was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Scholar at the conference's tournament, which concluded Saturday at Kellogg Arena on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona.
The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA among those competing in the league tournament's semifinal round.
Oosdyke, who will graduate this year, holds a 3.49 GPA as an International Business major from UC San Diego's Roosevelt College.
On the court this season, Oosdyke has seen action in 12 games with one start and is averaging 1.3 points. In an exhibition at San Diego State back in November, he scored 10 points in just eight minutes, going 3-for-4 from the field and making both of his 3-point attempts and both of his free throws. The Orange County native also added a rebound, an assist, and a steal.
The Tritons (21-10) defeated 19th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona, 68-66, Saturday to win their second-straight CCAA Championship title and earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. The 64-team field and pairings will be announced tonight at 7:30 p.m. PT at NCAA.com.
