LA JOLLA, Calif. - University of California San Diego men's basketball student-athlete Chris Hansen has been named to the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-West Region First Team as the outlet named its 2019 honorees Friday.

Hansen was one of five players and the lone one out of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) named to the first team.

A redshirt junior center, Hansen is averaging 14.8 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks while shooting .553 from the field - all team-highs - as a starter in all 32 of UC San Diego's games. He has 11 double-doubles to his credit this year and has totaled at least 10 points in 23 games and 20 or more in nine. He netted a career-high 29 points against Cal State San Bernardino and hauled in a career-best 14 rebounds vs. Chico State back in November. Twice this season the 6-foot-4 Hansen has drilled six 3-pointers in a game. He scored his 1,000th career point in January, becoming the sixth Triton to accomplish the feat during the team's Division II era (since 2000-01). He also owns UC San Diego's DII single season record for blocks with 34 this year.

Hansen was recently named the CCAA Player of the Year and an All-CCAA First Team member. He led all CCAA players in rebounding (8.1) and free throw percentage (91.8) in league games. He was second in 3-point field goal percentage (48.4) and blocks (1.3) and sixth in scoring (14.6). Hansen is UC San Diego's second-ever CCAA Player of the Year after guard Adam Klie was honored in 2017.

He was also named to the 2019 CCAA All-Tournament Team.

Hansen, who sat out the 2017-18 season following shoulder surgery, was an All-CCAA First Team pick in 2017 and the league's Freshman of the Year in 2016.

The D2CCA All-West Region teams are selected by the sports information directors from the schools in the West Region. First-team all-region members are eligible for the D2CCA All-America teams, which will be announced prior to the 2018-19 NCAA Division II Elite Eight on March 26.

UC San Diego, the 2019 CCAA Regular Season and Tournament Champion, plays Cal Poly Pomona in an NCAA West Regional quarterfinal tonight at 5 p.m. at Point Loma Nazarene.
