No. 2 Tritons Pick Up Another Shutout Win to Remain Unbeaten

UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The No. 2 University of California San Diego women’s soccer team defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 1-0, at Triton Soccer Stadium tonight. With the victory, the Tritons remain unbeaten at 7-0-1 and improve to 2-0-1 in conference play, while the Broncos fall to 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference action.

Mika Celeste supplied the scoring for the Tritons. On a free kick, Celeste rocketed the ball into the Bronco net. Celeste picked up her third goal of the season, which ties her for the team lead with teammate Natalie Saddic.

UC San Diego’s defense held the Broncos to just four shots across the contest. The Tritons were particularly effective in shutting down Taylor Scott, the CCAA’s leader in goals and points. Scott did not register a shot on the evening.

In the net, goalkeeper Angelica Ramos made one save and earned her seventh clean sheet of the season.

The Tritons will be back in action on Sunday. They host Cal State San Bernardino at 11:30 a.m. at Triton Soccer Stadium.
