Three Goals Earn Mika Celeste Her First CCAA Weekly Honor
CHICO Calif. – Mika Celeste of the No. 2 University of California San Diego women’s soccer team was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 7-13. The CCAA made its announcement on Tuesday morning. The honor is the first of Celeste's career.
The Pasadena native racked up six points as the Tritons remained unbeaten with a 2-0 weekend. On Friday, Celeste netted the game winner, capitalizing off a pass from Emily Killeen as UC San Diego ultimately captured a 5-2 win over Humboldt State.
On Sunday, the freshman dominated in UC San Diego’s 3-0 win over San Francisco State. Celeste put up two goals in the victory, totaling six on the season. Her 13 points (six goals, one assist) are good for third in the conference, tied with teammate Natalie Saddic.
Celeste and the Tritons will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, as UC San Diego hosts Chico State during Homecoming Weekend.
