CHICO, Calif. – Angelica Ramos of the No. 2 University of California San Diego women’s soccer team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 14-20. The CCAA made its announcement on Tuesday morning. This is the second-straight week that the Tritons have captured the award, as Mika Celeste was honored for the week of Oct. 7-13.

Ramos was dominant in the net as she collected two clean sheets to help the Tritons remain undefeated on the season. First, UC San Diego opened Homecoming Weekend by blanking Chico State, 1-0, on Friday night. Then, the Tritons followed up with a 3-0 shutout of Stanislaus State on Sunday afternoon.

Across the two contests, the San Clemente native made four saves. Ramos played all 180 minutes of the matches.

With the two clean sheets, Ramos’ goals-against average drops to a minuscule 0.303, which ranks fourth in the nation and tops the CCAA leaderboard. The shutouts were the Tritons’ 10th and 11th of the season, and their 0.846 shutout percentage is the best in the country.

Ramos’ weekly conference honor is her second of the year, as she previously earned the accolade on Sept. 10, and the third of her career. The redshirt senior is the only two-time recipient of the award this season.

Ramos will look to continue her success in the net at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, as the Tritons host crosstown foe Cal State San Marcos.
