SAN RAMON, Calif. - University of California San Diego outfielder Kelsi Maday has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Player of the Week as the conference announced its selections Tuesday.
Maday batted .692 (9-for-13) with two home runs, a double, a triple, three RBI, four runs scored and four stolen bases in a four-game split with No. 5-ranked Humboldt State.
Maday began the weekend strong, going 6-for-7 with a home run, a triple, three runs scored and three stolen bases as the Tritons took the first two games of the series on Friday afternoon. The senior continued her solid performance at the plate on Saturday, going 3-for-6 and adding another home run, a double, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
Maday, who now has four career CCAA Player of the Week honors, ranks tied for first in the conference in stolen bases (11) and is second in hits (20), second in runs scored (15), tied for second in triples (2), fifth in batting average (.444) and fifth in on-base percentage (.537).
UC San Diego (9-4, 4-4 CCAA) is back in action when it plays host to Cal State San Marcos in a four-game, CCAA weekend series on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24. The first pitch for Friday is set for 3 p.m.
